Rescreening Of The Great Fallbrook Saloon Robbery

2008 (Re-screening) The Great Fallbrook Saloon Robbery

A hilarious parody on the Old West or shall I say, a parody on how ‘old western movies’ were made. Originally conceived somewhere around 1979, a local film crew made a deal with the Fallbrook Chamber of Commerce to create a lighthearted comedy starring Fallbrook residences, who in turn, could contribute funds to the making of it. This would be a fun way to raise money for the Chamber, pay for the production, and draw attention to Fallbrook.

Written mainly by residents, it was staged in an actual nearby western setting just south of town called Rawhide Ranch (a famous boys and girls summer camp).

When the 12 minute, 16mm film was completed and edited it was screened in the historic Fallbrook Mission Theatre complete with limousines and searchlights.

Twenty-nine years later the Fallbrook Film Factory (thanks to the herculean efforts of Brigitte Schlemmer, Donna Walden, Adrian Armstrong-Adler and others) put on our first film festival. I decided to kick-off the event by re-screening an old, much worn out video copy of the Saloon Robbery loaned to me by two participants in the original film. As a coincidence, our first Festival was held in part in that very same historic Fallbrook Mission Theatre.
