My name is Juanita Huerta and I graduated from Fallbrook High School in 2007. I had a great experience and enjoyed being a part of school clubs and programs that enriched both my personal and academic life. I pursued a Bachelor of the Arts in Human Development and graduated form California State University San Marcos with honors in 2011.
During my undergraduate degree I was also taking culinary arts courses through the community college & working part time. I worked at Fallbrook High School as a Bilingual Paraprofessional working with students in the areas of math, english, and history. I also worked for the California Mini-Corps program and during the summer I worked with elementary students in summer camps.

In 2013, I went on to obtain a secondary subject teaching credential from Cal State Long Beach and completed it in spring 2014. In the fall of the same year, I started my first teaching job in San Bernardino county for two years, then moved to Riverside County and have been working there ever since. In 2015, I taught an additional adult nutrition course on Saturdays through the Fallbrook Extended Learning Academy(FELA). In 2016,another teacher and I took a group of our students on an Educational tour to Europe through Education First Tours.
We went to Germany, Austria, Italy, and Switzerland and had a wonderful educational experience learning about other cultures, foods, and traditions. In 2018, as one of two
employees from our district to travel to China with a group of educators & students through the Tower Bridge International program. It was an enriching experience that added to my subject matter expertise and teaching practice.
Currently I teach three levels of Career and Technical Education courses in the
Foodservice and Hospitality Pathway at Murrieta Valley High School to students in 9th-12th grade. This year I got engaged and will be getting married next year. I am currently pursuing a Master of Education in Health and Wellness and am expected to graduate this December 2021. I have always been interested in health, wellness, food, and world cultures from a young age. I feel very fortunate to be able to combine my passion for teaching and subject matter into a profession where I am able to make a difference in the lives of others. My hope is to promote health, well being, and cultural awareness through food education to students, their families, and communities. As a first generation college student, Fallbrook High School was a great educational foundation that set me up for a successful future.
